Oola life + the_em_edit
We have teamed up with Em from @the_em_edit to talk all things Oola. Over the next few months Em will be hosting some exciting guests and sharing some of her styling secrets. We are thrilled to have Em on board and can't wait to hear more from her.
Oola life is your one stop shop for fit advice, new styles and Oola updates, as well as fashion, lifestyle and social features - Think of it as a magazine without the unrelatable ads and casual misogyny.
I’m Em; Blogger and (very) occasional plus size model. I live in the North of England and am currently enjoying the holy trinity of: Pandemic, lockdown, and a new baby. Over the coming months, you’ll find me here and on InstaLive https://www.instagram.com/oolalingerie, interviewing some majorly interesting people, showing you how to style your Oola pieces and plenty of other features.
If you already know me, you’ll know that I’ve worked with A LOT of lingerie brands, and I’ve admired every single one of them (I wouldn’t work with them if I didn’t - I’m terrible at lying). From everything that I’ve seen, I can honestly say that, right now, the world of lingerie for plus size women is pretty exciting. We’ve gone from the odd matronly full cup hidden away in the back of department stores and attempting to squeeze into highstreet bralettes to OPTIONS, and with options comes great responsibility.
So, why Oola? If you are a plus size woman, you will know that the satorial items we long for the most, the holy grail if you will, are well made, well fitting, wardrobe staples. The plain white tshirt, the perfectly sculpted jeans, the classic trench. In the same way, I am always on the look out for lingerie that looks beautiful, that fits well and that will remain a classic. I want to fall in love with my lingerie, because, at the end of the day, how we look and how we feel starts with what is underneath our clothes.
From day one of Oola, my interest was piqued. This lingerie was BEAUTIFUL. The colourways are stunning, unlike anything I’ve seen in my size. The fit and engineering is clearly extremely well thought out, everything is where it should be and, let’s be honest, isnt this what we all want? Oola are giving women with a bust and back size like mine the opportunity to create a full new wardrobe of lingerie with something for every mood - All consistently fitted and perfectly matched. This consistency is due to how the sizes are designed, different sized lingerie is fit on different sized bodies, rather than being scaled up on a piece of paper; Ensuring the fabulous, up to a size 46 back, fit that Oola are so proud of.
Finally, Oola is a small, female run business, founded by women with decades of experience in the plus size and lingerie industry. They know what women *actually* want as well as what they *actually* buy (Useful info I’m sure you’ll agree) Ultimately, Oola want to empower women to feel good. Sitting around a (virtual) table with a team of women with integrity, who share my views on what a plus size brand should look like and who want to provide a safe, inclusive space for the women who shop with them is exciting, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.
I’m so glad that you can be here with me at the start of this Oola journey, I hope you enjoy the ride!
